The Best Wedding Day Advice I Was Ever Given
As a New England–based wedding content creator, I’ve spent years capturing coastal weddings, luxury tented celebrations, and intimate estate weddings across Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and beyond. After documenting hundreds of wedding days, this is still the best advice I share with every couple I work with because it completely transforms your experience and the content we capture.
I still think about this piece of advice all the time - not just as a past bride, but as a wedding content creator who has captured countless wedding days and watched so many couples experience their day in different ways.
When I was planning my own wedding in 2024, a close friend told me something that completely shifted the way I experienced my day:
Stay with your partner. All day.
It sounds simple, but trust me… it’s so easy to get pulled in different directions.
You’re surrounded by friends, family, vendors, and everyone you love. People are coming up to congratulate you, ask questions, or pull you onto the dance floor. Before you know it, hours have passed, and you realize… you haven’t even seen your partner in a while.
That’s exactly why this advice stuck with me: stay together.
If one of you goes to grab a drink, go together.
If one of you is chatting with guests, stay and chat together.
If you’re heading to the dance floor, grab their hand and go as one.
Your wedding day is about you two. You’ve spent months (or years!) planning every detail, and when the day finally arrives, you deserve to experience it side-by-side.
Why This Matters So Much
As a New England wedding content creator, I’ve seen firsthand how easy it is for couples to get swept up in the excitement and accidentally spend most of the day apart.
But the couples who stay together? Their content always feels more connected.
Their videos show shared smiles, little looks, inside jokes - all the real stuff.
You can tell they were fully present with each other, soaking in the day as a team. And those are the moments that turn into the most meaningful memories (and the sweetest wedding recap reels later on).
Make a Pact Before the Big Day
Here’s my tip: talk about it before your wedding.
Make a pact that you’ll stick together… even when the day gets busy or a little chaotic.
So, send your partner this post. It’s such a small, simple mindset shift that makes your wedding day feel calmer, slower, and more intentional.
Because at the end of the day, this whole celebration is about your love story… and you should be living it together.
If you’re planning a New England wedding, whether along the Maine coast, on Cape Cod, in Newport, or anywhere in the Northeast, capturing your day with intention matters. I specialize in candid, documentary-style wedding content that tells the story of your day exactly as it happened.
From luxury coastal venues to classic New England estates, I’m here to preserve the real moments you’ll want to relive forever.
